Spee-Dee Delivery Rates with Surcharges

Spee-Dee Delivery is a regional ground carrier in the upper Midwest. The speedee carrier supports getallrates.

Two ways to rate#

Spee-Dee has two rate services. RocketShipIt picks one by whether you send a key.

Without a key, surcharges such as the Delivery Area Surcharge (DAS) are not in the rate, and dimensions are ignored. Send a key to get the price Spee-Dee will bill.

Credentials#

Spee-Dee issues the subscription key. The same values can come from the environment as RS_SPEEDEE_ACCOUNT_NUMBER and RS_SPEEDEE_KEY. The key is redacted from the transactions in meta.debug_information.

rate is the package cost. rate_detail has the base charge as BASE, then one line for each Spee-Dee accessorial, named as Spee-Dee names it (DAS is the Delivery Area Surcharge).

Each package is quoted separately. For more than one package, rate and every rate_detail line are the sums across all packages.

service defaults to GROUND. ship_date takes 2026-10-30 or an RFC 3339 time and defaults to now. insured_value is sent as the declared value.

Spee-Dee rounds weight and dimensions up to whole numbers. Each adjustment, and the notice for a test shipper number, comes back as a Warning in errors. A warning does not stop the rate.
